Kara Kana (Love to Sing in Kernewek) is a series of animated children’s songs to help children sing and rhyme in Cornish. Launched for Speak Cornish Week in 2020, this series of five animated songs are available to watch for free on YouTube and Tyskennow Kernow and listen to on Spotify, Amazon Music.

 

Commissioned through Screen Cornwall with the support of Cornwall Council and MHCLG, we versioned the series into Cornish from an original Welsh series made by Twt Productions for S4C’s pre-school service Cyw. The Cornish vocals were recorded by multi-talented Cornish performer Bec Applebee at Cube Recording Studio in Silverwell.

 

Toddlers love to sing with family and friends, so with the Kara Kana series we are now able to offer an opportunity for children (and Cornish language learners) to watch and sing along with traditional and contemporary nursery rhymes in Kernewek.
